The HP5101 is more targeted towards the business user that would appreciate the look and professional style versus the plastic that is typically found on netbooks. There are some good deals on the 5101 at the HP Business site for computers. I personally like the rubbery grip and the durakeys. Though just like any nerd, I’d like my netbook to have more memory and processing power.
awesome machine. better than Dell Mini 10 and is more advance than anything out there. Yes, it is very feature rich and I have no issues with the fan noise. Matter of fact, my laptop is making a lot noise in comparison to the 5101. So the fan noise is pretty minor in comparison to say the Dell. Which we all know Dell is Junk.
Now Im not at all computer savvy. So I was wondering whether you all could help me decide. First of all, do you recommend any model either from HP or another company. And whether you prefer the 2140 or the 5101, pros and cons
Hi! I have looking into getting a mini lap and am stuck between the HP mini 2140 or 5101. Im a senior at college and Im looking a mini for class but also one for the future.
so which one is better in terms of the construction? which one is more solid and better for peopel who travel or on the road a lot? HP 5101 Netbook or the Toshiba netbook?
The HP clearly better? No way. The Toshiba is gorgeous and comes in 5 colors, not 3 ((black, white, brown, blue, and pink–so far). The HP looks drab by comparison.
The Toshiba comes with XP instead of Vista, which I find a better choice for a netbook.
I think it’s the Toshiba that has the superior design and the typing experience is as good or better! The Toshiba has fantastic build quality and battery life. The NB205 absolutely kills the 5101 at a better price.

I could have sworn it was an option as it drove the price up quite a bit and I chose the budget model HP5101.

My Only problem with this is the price. The whole Idea of netbooks was cheap computing.
I picked up my 2133 for £200 back in the day. This is £400+

I don’t think it is the best. I like the new eeepc 1008ha.

get the 2140 because you get a express slot and a slightly larger keyboard, a thinner wider mouse with the left right clickers on the side

I was hoping on finding a model which will be great for a business career and one that will last for about 4 years, without causing me back problems.

Looks great but why does the price of this netbook vary greatly even if it seems they have the same features?

Some people need to remember this is a business laptop and it’s durable and doesn’t need to look flashy. This is better than the Toshiba.

my advice, get a lapel mic and balance the audio.
